Grove Christian Outreach Center Wins Outstanding Service to Seniors Award

Service to Seniors Award 2025

WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Williamsburg Landing is proud to announce that Grove Christian Outreach Center has been selected to receive the 2025 Outstanding Service to Seniors Award. This award is chosen during Older Americans Month in May and presented in partnership with the Williamsburg Community Foundation. In 2016, the Williamsburg Landing Fund was established with the Community Foundation to honor those who have exhibited outstanding senior services in the greater Williamsburg area. Winners are selected annually and presented with a $1,000 award.

For more than 20 years, Grove Christian Outreach Center has supported vulnerable families in the Williamsburg area, providing food, clothing, and financial assistance. In 2024 alone, the organization impacted the lives of 40,734 individuals through its various outreach programs. Among those served are local seniors, supported through programs designed to meet their specific needs.

Seniors aged 55 and older are invited to shop during exclusive hours on Monday mornings at “The Gathering Place”, Grove’s free grocery market stocked with fresh produce, pantry staples, and hygiene items. Additionally, homebound seniors facing mobility challenges receive food deliveries directly to their doors. These services not only meet basic needs but also foster a sense of dignity and connection while recognizing the importance of supporting older adults in the community.

“Grove Christian Outreach Center exemplifies all that this award represents—dedication, compassion, and a lasting impact on the lives of seniors in Greater Williamsburg. We are honored to recognize their exceptional work and support their mission” said Jan Bigelow, President and CEO of Williamsburg Landing.

“Grove Christian Outreach Center is so honored to have been chosen to receive this recognition for our work to serve seniors across Greater Williamsburg. While we seek to ensure all vulnerable families have what they need to thrive, we also recognize the special needs that seniors face.  Whether it is providing minor home repairs to allow an elderly community member to age safely in place, hosting a Seniors only Bingo each month, hosting a Seniors only shopping hour in The Gathering Place, or stocking items in our free food pantry that meet the specific dietary needs of our mature neighbors, we aim to serve. This award from Williamsburg Landing is an honor, and we are grateful” Katie Patrick, Executive Director.
