Bequests are the most popular way that friends of Williamsburg Landing leave legacies. Bequests are made according to the donor’s wishes—large or small, restricted or unrestricted—and often provide tax benefits. Adding a simple codicil to your will is one way to achieve this goal.

With a charitable gift annuity, you provide a gift to Williamsburg Landing and in return receive regular income payments for the rest of your life (as well as substantial tax benefits). The remaining balance will be used to support the mission and vision of Williamsburg Landing. Charitable gift annuities may be funded with cash or stock, and are irrevocable. You may use your Entrance Fee Refund to make a gift with a simple amendment to your Residency Agreement. These gifts come with a dollar-for-dollar tax deduction.

An outright gift of real estate will provide you with a tax deduction for a charitable contribution, and it may enable you to realize capital gains tax savings on the appreciation amount.

You may make us the beneficiary of your life insurance policy or you may transfer the ownership of a policy to Williamsburg Landing.

Retirement plans, such as an IRA, a Keogh plan, a section 401(k) plan or a stock bonus plan may be subject to both income and estate taxes at the owner’s death. Naming Williamsburg Landing as the beneficiary of all or part of a retirement plan provides a way to manage tax planning and help your community. You may also direct gifts to Williamsburg Landing using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

Donors may contribute gently used furniture and household items to the resident-run flea market. Sale proceeds benefit the Residents’ Association and its activities, such as the publication of The Tatler magazine, the Williamsburg Landing Library, employee education and social gatherings.
