Williamsburg Landing Introduces Connections Program in Memory Support

Williamsburg Landing announced the launching of its new signature program, Connections, focusing on personalized engagement for those living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in their Memory Support Home.  One of the highlights of the Connections program is its award-winning, evidence-based care model, “Behavior-Based Ergonomics Therapy” (BBET). The BBET philosophy centers around ergonomics: the science of tailoring the environment to reduce stress on an individual.  Staffed by licensed and certified nurses and support staff, all are BBET-certified in its uniquely customized approach.

Williamsburg Landing Partners with Hospice House of Williamsburg & Support Care of Williamsburg

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg (HHSCW) beginning in September 2018.

 

HHSCW staff will provide Williamsburg Landing employees with end of life education, enhancing our ability to provide the best possible care to our residents and family members. This training will be led by HHSCW staff: Nicole Osborne (Programs Director) and supplemented by Heidi Crocker (Clinical Director), Hannah Creager (Chaplaincy Director), and Bell-Jo Rodgers (Nurse Consultant Emeritus).

 

Williamsburg Landing Names New Board Members

Williamsburg Landing has announced the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors.  Allison J. Brody, Louise F. Canfield, Michael J. Fox, Dr. Carlane J. Pittman and Edgar J. Schumacher will each serve three-year terms. Residents’ Council President, William Kaufmann, re-elected by the Williamsburg Landing Resident Association, will continue his service on the board. As a non-profit Life Plan Community, Williamsburg Landing is guided by a local 18-member volunteer Board of Directors that includes two voting residents.

Williamsburg Landing and K4Connect Announce Partnership to Add Connected-Life Technology

Raleigh, NC and Williamsburg, VA – June 5, 2018 – Williamsburg Landing, the premier Life Plan Community in Williamsburg, and K4Connect, a mission-centered technology company that creates connected-life solutions for older adults and those living with disabilities, have announced a new partnership between the two leaders. K4Connect will deploy its flagship senior living solution known as K4Community throughout the Williamsburg Landing community.

Outstanding Service to Seniors Award awarded to William S. Massey of Peninsula Agency on Aging

Vernon Baker and Kathy Kammer presented the second annual Williamsburg Landing Outstanding Service to Seniors Award to William S. Massey, CEO of Peninsula Agency on Aging. Bill was actively involved in the startup of the Center for Excellence in Aging, established a branch of PAA in Williamsburg, served as an advisor to the local Senior Services Coalition, and has served hundreds of seniors and their families in the community.

The Virginia Health Care (VHCA) - Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VCAL) Richmond & Tidewater Districts combined their first meeting of 2018 at Williamsburg Landing. The topic, "How to be Ready: CMS Emergency Preparedness Regulation", was presented by April Payne, LNHA, VP of Quality Improvement & Director of VCAL and Kelly Parker, Director of Emergency Preparedness, Virginia Hospital & Healthcare

Association.

 

Williamsburg Landing's Outstanding Service to Seniors Award

When Older Americans Month was established in 1963, only 17 million living Americans had reached their 65th birthday. About a third of older Americans lived in poverty and there were few programs to meet their needs. Interest in older Americans and their concerns grew. In April 1963, President John F. Kennedy and the National Council of Senior Citizens designated May as “Senior Citizens Month,” the prelude to “Older Americans Month.”

Williamsburg Landing Memory Support & Adult Day Center

November 30, 2017 – Williamsburg, Virginia - The first section of Williamsburg Landing’s expansion project kicked off to a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony last night.  The new Memory Support Home with its lower level Adult Day Center responds to demonstrated needs of Williamsburg Landing residents and the senior community in Greater Williamsburg for more options and services.   

Williamsburg Landing Announces Nathan Yowell as the Healthcare Administrator

Vernon M. Baker, Executive Vice President/COO, has announced the appointment of Nathan Yowell as our new Healthcare Administrator. 

Nathan brings with him a strong administrative background, having managed a 130-bed skilled nursing facility at Heritage Hall in King George and a 145-bed skilled nursing facility at Heritage Hall in Nassawadox, Virginia.  Nathan loves working in this industry and prides himself on getting to know all of his teammates and the residents he serves.
